Animating Places: The Wedding at Cana

This week, learn more about the creation of the location for the wedding at Cana for iBIBLE Life of Christ through a look at how our artists and animators use research to meticulously craft each element of the story. Each scene of iBIBLE is carefully researched and designed piece-by-piece to be as accurate and engaging as possible.
This first image shows the preliminary research and design for the town of Cana as well as the exact location of the wedding: a synagogue. For this episode, the animators began with preliminary research, as seen below. This type of detailed research is what goes into the planning and preparation of each location, person, and episode of iBIBLE Life of Christ.
The animator then creates an initial design, as seen below. This is a courtyard of the synagogue. Notice the walls or gates on all four sides, meaning that only those invited to the wedding would be allowed access to the courtyard.
Lastly, you can see the final design for the synagogue at Cana taking into account the research and edits from the lead animator and Biblical researcher about the initial concept above. Weddings would have been grand affairs, generally lasting a week or more, so having a large space would be necessary.
