Animating Places: Joseph's Courtyard
RevelationMedia is continuing to design settings and characters for our new 3D-animated installment of iBIBLE called Life of Christ. The first three episodes were released on Easter Sunday, April 20. Watch them today at www.i.BIBLE!
This week, learn more about the creation of the courtyard in Joseph’s house in Nazareth in iBIBLE Life of Christ through a look at how our artists and animators meticulously craft each element of the story. Each scene of iBIBLE is carefully researched and designed piece-by-piece to be as accurate and engaging as possible.
This first image shows the initial design for the courtyard including Joseph’s carpentry space on the left as well as a small stable on the right. Seen in the center is a note from the lead animator on an element to add towards the final design.
This next image shows more of the courtyard. Courtyards were very common at the time, and they would provide a safe, partially-covered space for practicing one’s trade as well as keeping animals safe from weather. They also allowed for more living and working space, as houses were generally small, usually containing one or two rooms. You can see part of the main house through the doorway on the right side.
Lastly, you can see the final design from iBIBLE Life of Christ Episode 3: The Birth of Jesus. This shows the specifics of Joseph’s workspace as well as the people interacting in the set. Notice the small details, such as the fabric blocking the sun from the courtyard along the top as well as the tools and wall hangings.
