Animating People: Mary of Bethany
RevelationMedia is continuing to design settings and characters for our new 3D-animated installment of iBIBLE called Life of Christ. The first three episodes are available now to watch at www.i.BIBLE!
This week, learn more about the creation of the costume for Mary of Bethany (Martha’s sister) in iBIBLE Life of Christ through a look at how our artists and animators use research to meticulously craft each element of the story. Each scene of iBIBLE is carefully researched and designed piece-by-piece to be as accurate and engaging as possible.
This first image shows the preliminary research for the costume design for Mary of Bethany, Martha’s sister. Mary and Martha were not extremely wealthy, so their clothing would have been more subdued and reflective of their position in society. Seen below is some of the research for Mary of Bethany including a basic veil, sash, and tunic, elements of everyday wear for most women of the time.
In this image, you can see the initial costume design on the left and the image from the preliminary research above on the right side. The two pictures contain the lead animator’s notes about the initial costume design to align it more with the research.
Lastly, in the images below, you can see the final costume design for Mary of Bethany based on the research and edits pictured above. Final changes and tweaks of the clothing pieces may be necessary before using this character for iBIBLE Life of Christ episodes.
